If you are able to design your dream home without a heck of a lot of consideration to how much money you can spend, you are indeed a very blessed individual. And, since you're spending a lot on your home, it might as well have all the bells and whistles that you have always wanted. Here are some ideas that might inspire you to create something unique and elegant.

The Outdoor Entryway

Make a statement by designing a very impressive entryway to your home, starting with the front door. Some front doors that would add drama to the entrance would include large, wooden French doors that have been hand painted with things like flowers, pastoral scenes, or intricate scrollwork. Another idea is to select front doors with beveled glass or Tiffany glass as part of the design. Don't forget lighting. A large, hanging outdoor chandelier with matching lanterns on each side of the front door would be very impressive. For the ground as you approach the door, think about faux painted concrete that would take on the look of something exotic, like an Oriental rug.

The Foyer

Think of bringing the feeling of the outdoors right into your home by creating a foyer with a skylight to let natural light into the area. Adding a focal point to the foyer will set the mood for the rest of your home. A large fountain surrounded by potted plants is one good idea. Another unique decorative statement would be to have an actual tree and indoor plants with large cages that hold real birds in them. If you want to add a peaceful feeling to the entrance of your home, build water tanks into the wall that will hold different types of fish.

The Main Floor

Besides the traditional spaces that include a living room and dining room, think of making a huge room that will serve as a game room. One side of the room would be set up for things like a pool table, a ping pong table and individual smaller tables for things like chess, board games and jigsaw puzzles. The other part of the room would be used for an indoor swimming pool.

Additional Floors

No matter how many bathrooms and bedrooms you have for your family, consider setting up a guest area. Whether you have a two-story house or a multi-story home, installing an elevator from a company like Eastern Elevator CO in your home will be a really good idea in case the time comes when one of your family members or a guest will not be able to use the stairs. To add to the elegance of your home, select a luxuriously designed elevator that will match the decor of your home. One idea is to select a glass elevator that will allow passengers to look at your beautiful home as they ascend or descent the different levels. Even the inside of the elevator can be beautiful, with elegant wallpaper or things like painted flowers on the walls.

As you plan each individual room, think of features that will make each room different than the others, yet convey a feeling that the house flows together. Your architect and your interior decorator will be able to help you to accomplish that.
